A founding principal of FC Brisbane Inc. is to increase transparency around financial decisions and where your money goes. We believe sport should be accessible to all, but getting a team on the pitch does come at a price. Our aim is to make sure you are fully informed. So here it goes…

For the 2023 season, we have set our Senior Metro registration fee at $600. Here is where we expect it to go.

We are a club that does not have its own fields, so a huge component of our fees goes towards Field Hire. We have kept this at a minimum by having all of our Metro teams train together. This keeps attendance high and allows the club to influence a culture that is consistent across its members.

We budget to have three officials allocated to each game (that’s the dream), but we know that this is unlikely. This has allowed us to pay above average for Club Referees (because they deserve it) and puts a little bit in reserve for a rainy day.

So how much are we lining our own pockets?

We set a realistic target of retaining three Metro teams for the 2023 season. After modelling a number of scenarios at various registration costs, including not hitting our targets and varying squad sizes, we determined that $600 was a reasonable price point and gave the opportunity to be financially viable and attract new players.

At this price point, it was essential to expand to four teams to have the potential to return a small profit to ensure that we could be proactive in planning for the future.

So to keep it interesting, what does it cost to get a team on park?

Each home game held at the club costs approximately $300 to hold, assuming that we get referees. Honestly, its a bigger number than we expected but we hope it provides some perspective on why the fees are where they are.

For our first year, we feel we have set a fair price, but our aim is to improve. We aim to leverage sponsorship, improved relationships with our suppliers and economies of scale to help reduce these costs and ultimately provide more players with the opportunity to play for our club.
